Coffee Break Post

Welcome!

With this being my very first “coffee break” post, I will start by saying welcome!  I can not wait to share my recipes, projects, and Bailey with you.  Although this first posting has a greater word count than the entire website right now, I encourage you to stick around…great things are coming!

I am truly grateful to be at home during this time and thankful for the opportunity to finally carry out this decade old dream.  Decade?! You read that right……

Let me share one of my biggest pet peeves … measuring!  I am not sure why but for as long as I have been cooking and baking in the kitchen this has always been true for me.  “Did you write it down this time?”, my mom’s most infamous question after enjoying one of my recipes and honestly the most motivating for me.  Although this means that the recipe will always be slightly different, call me crazy but, I LOVE that concept!  There is something so ambiguous and exciting about throwing together ingredients and creating a recipe as unique as a snowflake.

It was the repetition of that question along with the unyielding requests for copies of each recipe that sparked the blog idea for me.  So, this aspiration of sharing my creations publicly was brought to life in 2008 …and it lasted two recipes. Two cases of recreating and transcribing experimental recipes from my head to measuring cups and eventually Microsoft Word.  As with most things that don’t work out, the timing was off; I was too reserved and self-conscious to handle such a feat at that time.  I have since carried that desire to have a blog and share my ideas if the opportunity ever presented itself; and here we are in the year 2020 when the world has come to a halt. I couldn’t think of a more opportune moment then now to revisit this dream.

My recipes are simple & far from a gourmet cuisine magazine but geared toward practicality in the average weeknight American kitchen.  Although simple in design, these creations are packed with flavor and passed taste tests from family and friends.  I think we can all agree that there is nothing worse than trying a recipe from Pinterest and it being a dry, flavorless dish that you have to hide at the family party.

My experimental successes and tweaked Pinterest recipes will always be here for you when you don’t know what else to do with chicken or when you are out of ideas for a potluck party.  And from time to time I will post a healthy meal or dessert purely out of gluttonous guilt but also to provide a little something for everyone!  Thank you for being here and I hope you stick around.
